Alberta

New homes are only charged 5% GST
The GST / HST new housing rebate offers up to ~36% of the GST paid (up to a maximum of ~$6,300)
The Fair Market Value of the home must be under $450,000 in order to receive the rebate

British Columbia

New homes are charged 5% GST
Even though BC is a GST & PST (HST) province, BC does not offer a tax rebate for PST on new housing
The GST / HST new housing rebate offers up to ~36% of the GST paid (up to a maximum of ~$6,300)
The Fair Market Value of the home must be under $450,000 in order to receive the rebate

Ontario

New homes are charged 5% GST and 8% PST (HST)
The GST / HST new housing rebate offers up to ~36% on the GST component (up to a maximum of ~$6,300)
Ontario offers an additional PST part of the rebate up to $24,000
The Fair Market Value of the home must be under $450,000 in order to receive the GST rebate
The provincial rebate applies regardless of fair market value above certain thresholds (in certain cases) in Ontario. Connect with us for more details.
